At Vulcan GMS, safety is our top priority. We are a family company and safety does not just stop with our employees. Safety is also critical to their families as well. Vulcan recently celebrated 1,000 days without a lost time accident, which is an outstanding achievement for any company, and we continue the safety trend everyday.
To further promote safety, this year during National Safety Month Vulcan held its first safety poster contest. The contest was open to any employee’s children and the challenge was to produce a poster where the content related to work or home safety related issues. Vulcan had many entries to choose from and the decision was hard to make; but after careful deliberation our safety committee declared a winner.
The poster shown is Vulcan’s 2014 safety poster winner. This poster was created by the family of Dywane Gatson. The poster shows some great fundamental ways for people to stay safe in the work place. The family received a $100 gift card for their hard work and winning poster. All others that participated received a $10 gift card for their involvement. This poster is on display at Vulcan and will remain on display until the 2015 poster challenge.
We believe that safety does not begin nor end at the work place . It is an awareness for all members of our Vulcan family. We encourage companies to support a safety focus and try similar contests to help promote work place safety.
